Tents is a public read-aloud of the entire Bible - from Genesis to Revelation - in one week. Presented by Laid Down Life and hosted by Bread Cafe in Yeovil.
It’s a celebration of all God’s promises and purposes for His people, joining in the rich tradition in Scripture of the public recital of Scripture: from Moses and Joshua (Joshua 8:34), through Josiah (2 Kings 22) and Ezra (Nehemiah 8) and most notably commanded during the Feast of Tabernacles (or Festival of Tents) - a tradition that Jesus participated in (John 7:37), and one the prophet Zechariah says the whole church will celebrate together following Jesus’ triumphant second coming:
“And Moses commanded them, saying: “At the end of every seven years, at the appointed time in the year of release, at the Feast of Tabernacles, when all Israel comes to appear before the Lord your God in the place which He chooses, you shall read this law before all Israel in their hearing.” Deuteronomy 31:10-11
“And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles.” Zechariah 14:16
